Spring Home Maintenance Checklist
As the weather warms and the days start to get longer, we begin enjoying more time outdoors which makes this time of year the perfect time to check in on some maintenance around your home. Keeping up with your home’s maintenance is important to prevent any unwanted emergencies or large bills, like a water leak or your air-conditioner not working during a heat wave!
This is why we have put together a home maintenance check list so that you can spend more time enjoying the summer holiday months without any fuss!
Service your air conditioners
Air-conditioners are usually running overtime during the peak of summer and the last thing you will want is your air-conditioner faulting on a 40-degree day! Your air conditioning system should be professionally serviced regularly. Regular maintenance of the unit will ensure it functions effectively and efficiently throughout it's years of service. Neglecting necessary maintenance ensures a steady decline in air conditioning performance while energy use steadily increases.
Hello a smooth running cooling system all summer long! Before summer hits, call us to organise a licensed and qualified professional to service your unit.
Clean out air-conditioning filters
Dirty and clogged filters can prevent air-flow by up to 50%! Not to mention, air filtering through a dirty filter can also be harmful to your health and cause respiratory problems. This is why it’s important to regularly clean your filters. You can do this by rinsing and washing it in the sink with dishwashing liquid, allowing to dry and then vacuuming any remaining dirt.
Wash your windows
During the winter months, dirt builds up on and around windows. To freshen and allow for more light to brighten your home, give your windows a good clean.
As we know, winter can bring about some nasty weather that can cause leaves and other matter to build up in the gutters. Blocked gutters can cause damage to your roof as water is unable to run off properly.
Clean mould from your home
Mould thrives in warm, dark, humid places making summer a great time for mould to flourish. Not only is mould not a great sight, it can also cause severe health conditions. Mould is a toxin, which means it can cause a number of health conditions from breathing difficulties, allergies, chronic fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems and autoimmune conditions. Some mould can be removed yourself however, an infestation of mould should be removed by a professional to ensure it is killed appropriately for the type of mould it is.
Internal and external pipes
Check around your home at all the plumbing and look to see if there are any leaks or cracks in your pipes. If you see any, be sure to call a plumber immediately before the summer heat makes it worse and to prevent an unwanted large water bill!
Remove stagnate water sources
If you have any stagnate water laying around, this will attract mosquitos, cockroaches and other insects to your home especially as the weather warms up.
A garden left untamed during summer can invite some unwanted guests like snakes. Not only that, summer months mean enjoying more time outside, so why not enjoy your time in a healthy and well maintained garden!
